Shortlist: Piero Lissoni: What he can’t live without.

With his longtime design partner, Nicoletta Canesi, this Milan-based architect and designer—who also operates a studio in New York—has built everything from private villas to corporate headquarters and hotels (one of their latest: a swank renovation of Amsterdam’s historic Conservatorium Hotel). Lissoni is perhaps best known as a prolific designer of contemporary furniture, housewares, and kitchen systems for such iconic brands as Alessi, Boffi, Living Divani, and Kartell.
